If you didn’t know it already, one of the biggest music festivals in the country is going on right now in Austin, TX, called South By Southwest! Hundreds of up-and-coming bands get the opportunity to show off for bloggers, music journalists, and music fans. Whether or not you get a chance to go, I thought I’d introduce you to some of my favorite new artists performing at this city-wide event. First up is Twin Sister, my friend’s band that makes amazing dreamy pop music. They have a free EP up on their website for download, and just debuted a single from their upcoming album on Pitchfork! Your favorite girl next door, Danica McKellar, otherwise known as Winnie Cooper from the Wonder Years, is going to be having her first baby! Danica has been working on her third math book, Hot X: Algebra Exposed, and was putting off telling everyone. When she finally found out she said: “When you do the take the home pregnancy test, it doesn’t quite seem real, but when you see the baby and the heartbeat on the ultrasound, it’s so incredible.” Crossing my fingers that the baby’s name is going to be Kevin or Winnie. Congrats Danica! We wish you the very best.
Buffy The Vampire Slayer star Nicholas Brendon has been arrested for swinging at police officers and leading them on a wild goose chase. According to TMZ, the star got drunk in Venice, CA and when the police arrived he thought it was a good idea to try to hit them. That didn’t fly very well with the LAPD, so they tased him twice, subdued him, and took him to the hospital. Nicholas is currently being booked for felony and vandalism. Wow, Xander, you really miss slaying vampires don’t you?
Oh my goodness, I can’t believe it! My little puppy is turning 9yrs old! I remember the day we brought him home and he fit in the palm of my hand. I’m sure most of you know what it’s like to have a dog or a cat… It’s the best feeling in the whole world! And Bull has such a cool personality that I’d rather hang out with him, than most the people I know! He doesn’t warm to people too fast, but once you get to know him, you find that he’s got the BEST sense of humor! (Check out the video below, Mo goes Bull hunting while I talk about his bad social skills! Circa 2008! Haha). Well, Bully Monster, I hope you have an amazing birthday and please don’t drink and drive, I know how much you like to celebrate with green beer on St. Patty’s day!
I never realized how cute Harlow Madden was until she showed up in her daddy Joel Madden’s arms during the We Are the World taping! Her momma Nicole Richie recently picked up cutie Harlow from a playdate, and here she is holding hands with her new BFF. Maybe it’s just me, but doesn’t this snapshot remind you a little of Paris and Nicole?
**I’M THAT SMOKE THING ALERT** The man in the mirror this time is our favorite nickname spitting, long-con man Sawyer. Seems he doesn’t consider himself a member of Team Locke, although he is doing his dirty work and doing some reconnaissance work on Hydra Island. Meanwhile, in sideways land it seems that James Ford had quite a different destiny mapped out for him, but with the same old skeletons in his closet.
Gwen Stefani, is looking FRIECE on the cover of Instyle Magazine wearing a lovely Stella McCartney dress. Gwen seems to be in the prime of her life at 40 years old keeping strong in the music business and her clothing line. However, Gwen’s clothing line is a back-up plan for her musical career:
“I wanted so badly to have a backup plan for
when I’m not performing anymore. Let’s be realistic: it’s not going to
be like this forever. So I wanted to continue having something
creative to do. I don’t have a strong sense of self-worth unless I’m
doing something. I was a different person before I started to write.
When I realized I could be a songwriter and that people would listen—
that was when I started feeling good in my life.”
Well I couldn’t think of any better and more successful plan B than that!
