On our way to Colorado, we stopped at the World’s largest truck stop. On our way back, we visited a different kind of attraction in Gothenburg, NE. What you see here is an actual relay station for the Pony Express. For nineteen months (April, 1860-November 1861), riders carried the mail on horseback between St. Louis, MO, to San Francisco, CA. Along the way, they rested and obtained fresh horses at strategically located relay stations.
Prior to this, it took 6 month to get info across our country, as the telegraph, telephone, television, and Internet were still waiting to be invented. So were automobiles and trucks. And Facebook too. Times have certainly changed.

I’m a sucka for children choirs. Lately I have been hooked on watching these kids from PS22 choir I found when I was randomly surfing the web. They sing a variation of hits like Fleetwood Mac’s Landslide, Coldplay’s “Viva La Vida”, Tori Amos’s “1000 Oceans” and my personal favorite Survivor’s “Eye of the Tiger”. Currently these kids were featured on a song from the band Passion Pit that’s on the Billboard Top 100. After over 10 years of Blossom being off the air, our favorite care free teen, Mayim Bialik is back in the spotlight. This time she is going in for a makeover with Stacy and Clinton on TLC’s season premier of What Not to Wear. Now mother of 2, she is in desperate need of a “mommy make-over” wearing nothing but peasant dresses with army boots. YIKES! Lets just hope that she never says goodbye to sunflower hats and crazy leggings. Gotta love the 90’s!

I just got my diploma in the mail this morning, the weather is finally starting to stay nice… oh yeah, and I’m going to be in a group art show going up on Monday at Broadway Gallery in SoHo. Life is looking sweet. The official “opening” for the show will be next Friday, June 5th, from 6-8pm. It’s at 473 Broadway on the 7th floor, between Broome and Grand, and if anyone is in the area you should totally come on by and take a look. There will be free refreshments if you’re not sold on the art alone. I have some friends in this show, and one of my lifelong friends curated it, so we’re all really proud. The theme is “Unframed Portraits,” and here’s a snippet from the show description:
“Deconstructing typical notions of what art history and contemporary society see as portraiture, Unframed Portraits investigates all aspects of portraiture from domestic documentation and archive to the exploration of the self. Elegant and elusive, the exhibition embraces the ambiguity in life, death, and art; often translating the tension between universal human frailty and the totemic qualities of the human image that are central to visual art.”
These are two pieces (of three) that I’m hanging in the show. I hope to see some of you lovely people there! It’s going to be great.

I’m so excited! I love scarves and my wish for more of them has come true! They are so cute with their vintage butterfly print and sheer texture. Okay, correct me if I’m wrong, but Kanye and Rihanna have been spending a lot of time together. Like A LOT of time. I kinda think they are dating. I mean, he totally just broke up with his GF and Riri is single so it’s not that far fetched! He’s even based his ENTIRE video for ‘Paranoid’ around hot shots of Rihanna and she doesn’t even sing on the track. Curious… If it is true, and they are new sweethearts, then I’m totally down for that!!

Oh my gosh you guys, there’s so much happening in the entertainment world today that I have to just touch base on a bunch of thing at once. Consider this your news flash of all the crazy stuff going on out there. Okay, here it goes:
Jon & Kate plus $10 Million:
I’ve really been trying to avoid writing about this, but now it’s just out of control! My worst nightmare has come true for the TLC t.v. family… Divorce!? Actually, Legal Separation to be exact. Sources reveal the Jon and Kate Gosselin are on tract to be legally separated by July 15th, mostly because Jon is unhappy and Kate just wants to move on from this whole ordeal. I feel so deceived! I mean, didn’t they just renew their vows in Hawaii 9 months ago? Ugh! DON’T EVER DO A FAMILY REALITY SHOW! Now, for the low-blow, they are worth about $10 million together and they are fighting over splitting it. Jon thinks it should be half / half and Kate wants the majority! I feel so bad for those kids and I wish they would quit the show and just fall in love and become a family again!
A Different Duff:
Haylie Duff looks a little different doncha think? Okay, so nothing has been confirmed but I’m gonna guess and say that there’s a really good chance that Haylie got some work done on her nose AND chin… Okay, I’m all about rockin’ whatchur mamma gave you, but if a nose job and a chin fixin’ makes you feel better about yourself, then I’m ALL bout it. I’ve always wanted a different chin so maybe I should follow in the steps of this Duff!? At least no one would call me Jen Leno anymore! Haha.

Ex-pop star, ex-reality star and ex-country star, Jessica Simpson has signed on to do another reality show… Except this time, it’s about how the different cultures of the world see beauty. It’s called The Price of Beauty. Hmmm. That means Jessica will be traveling the world… AH! I hope, where ever she goes, they know that not all Americans are like her! Just sayin’… Will you tune in or do you think this is another project that will go down hill!?
Tyson Tragedy:
I’m sure you’ve all heard this already, but Mike Tyson’s 4yr old daughter has passed away. Exodus was accidentally tangled in a treadmill cord and she was found by her older brother. She was rushed to the hospital and in critical condition until Tuesday night. SO SAD! Our thoughts and prayers are with her family… Tyson might have the biggest, rainiest cloud over his head… Like ever! I sincerely hope he bounces back from this horrible situation. Oh, my poor dogs! Keith’s brother Kevin, his gfriend Lonna and her Mom, Beth have all been in NYC this week for Lonna’s 30th… Happy Birthday Lonna! We had a great week with them… Walking all over New York, seeing the sites, eating pizza, hanging in Central Park, Slumdog Millionairing it and dive bar hopping. Needless to say, we’re all beat and from the looks of us in the this pic, we’ll all be sleeping it off for the next week. Had the best time, miss u!

Honestly I’ve been listening to that Little Joy song on repeat since March, I love it soo much. Weezer will be unveiling their own line of Snuggies called… The Wuggie. “A Wuggie is basically exactly like a Snuggie, except it says Weezer on it.” Says Rivers Cuomo the bands front man. “The people at Snuggie are doing it with us and promoting it with us. It’s a totally legit Snuggie.” This is not a joke, it has been confirmed by their publicist. I, personally, can’t get down with snuggies, but Weezer always had a good sense of humor. If it works out anything like their video for Pork & Beans (below), then I’m okay with it.

I just had to blog this, we definitely have not been experiencing summer weather so I thought this might remind us that its just around the corner! It all started with a little soil from the local gardening store, then escalated into a trash bag fashion show with Chris, only to become the cutest little flower patch on the block. I couldn’t believe how dedicated Chris was, he was planting flowers in the rain when most people just wait for a nice day! haha! As you know, Chris is our in-house green thumb and he takes his title pretty seriously. I mean REALLY SERIOUSLY! (Think, head to toe plastic wrap.)
He had been planning the planting party for some time and when it started raining, he just dressed for the occasion and started weeding! Jen tied a plastic do-rag on his head and he slipped on a GIANT trash bag and dove into the patch of dirt under Mary-Kate and Ashley (our twin trees). It was SO worth it, because they look absolutely beautiful! Even better than last year. We’ll post a cute pic as soon as they start growing and when the sun starts shining! It’s pretty chilly today but you better get ready because next week will be in the 80’s and you’ll have to have a SUPER cute dress ready!
