Jeremy Renner is an actor on the verge of blowing up in Hollywood. In The Hurt Locker, he plays a soldier on the verge of blowing up in Iraq. William James is the hot new bomb squad man in Baghdad. He strolls into town with a ‘wildman‘ reputation, and it might get his new squad killed. He doesn’t want the ‘bot’ to scout bomb locations by remote camera. Just put ‘the suit’ on Staff Sergeant James and he’ll remove the boom-boom without breaking a sweat. Well, actually he sweats quite a bit. This may be the sweatiest movie ever. But I guess you might sweat when a whole city tries to explode you.

As Chris announced earlier, Sarah Jessica Parker and hubby Matthew Broderick have successfully created the cutest fam evz! Here’s the first pic of the gals with mom, pop and big brother (James Wilkie Broderick, 6 1/2). The girl’s names are Marion Loretta Elwell Broderick and Tabitha Hodge Broderick. I’m sure their names are a string of family names… They have to be right!? Well, I love em! In fact, I love them even more because they were born in OHIO! Booyah! Congrats again to the happy fam!

Janet Jackson made an appearance at last night’s BET Awards to thank everyone for their outpouring of love as a result of her brother’s passing! She really held it together… If it were me, I don’t know that I could have! I also heard that the day before Michael Jackson passed away, his rehearsal for the “This Is It” tour was caught on hi-def film! Seriously? What the hull is going on?!? Billy Mays, the burly bear of a hunk of the infomercial scene passed away yesterday at his home in Tampa, FL. Billy was on a plane Saturday that was forced to make an emergency landing and I guess he hit his head on something… His wife said he wasn’t feeling well when he went to bed that night… It’s still unclear if that was the cause of this passing. Ya know, I couldn’t have told you what his name was before yesterday, but I just saw Billy in the airport at LaGuardia when I came home from New Orleans. He was getting his picture taken with some fans… He had a giant smile and the thumbs up!!! He definitely had that glow!

Here is a picture Earl snapped of me earlier today. Well, you’ll have to trust it’s me, since I’m sleeping under my snowman quilt in my new hammock. We just got this hammock at the beginning of June, and it is the perfect place for relaxing. As for the snowman quilt, I keep it out all year long even though some people wonder why. What’s the best thing about the summer, besides being able to wear pretty dresses everyday? CONCERTS! We’re so lucky to be in NY where the whole summer feels like a live musical experience! I was fortunate enough to go see one of my fav bands Camera Obscura this week. Like always they were so good, especially with Tracyanne Campbell’s lovely voice. I just wish that she didn’t look so angry all the time. Regardless, they are still amazing and you all should go get their new album, My Maudlin Career.

Hey world! I have an extra special treat for you this week. I know I promised a caption contest, but it’s going to have to wait again. This is too big. Remember how I was in a group show a few weeks back? Well, after that I was given the opportunity to curate one. It’s a totally different feeling than being in a show; this is like watching a baby take its first steps (maybe a little?). Oh, and if that wasn’t enough to grab your attention, Chaunté is in the show, along with four other great artists I know! The show is called “Transplant,” and it explores how relocating to the city affects one’s outlook, and therefore, their artwork. It runs July 1st through the 15th, and there will be an opening reception on July 8th, from 6-10pm. I’d totally love to see some of you there! This piece below is by a fellow Pratt graduate, James Moore. It’s huge, like 5′x5′. You have to see it in person to appreciate it. So make your way over to the Broadway Gallery when the time comes!

We’re not huge fans of Jenny Humphrey’s new I’m-a-bad-girl-now haircut on “Gossip Girl”–it’s a little fringe-fest for our tastes. We do, however, love bangs when they’re done well, like the piece-y perfection gracing Miss Katy Perry’s forehead these days. Now, here is a fool proof guide to what works best for oval, round, heart-shaped, and square faces:
Oval According to our beauty mavens, this is the most versatile face shape. “Send a thank-you letter to the genetic lottery, because you can rock any type of bangs you like,” says Amber Katz, editor of Beauty Blogging Junkie. Yay!
Round “Choose a fringe that’s cut longer on the sides than it is in the center,” advises Katz. “This will slim fuller cheeks.”
Heart-Shaped “The thicker the bang, the better,” says Jamie Allison Sanders, Editor-in-Chief of The Beauty of Life, “bold bangs help offset an angled jaw.”
Square Katz recommends lengthy, sweeping bangs. “The long, curved effect that this style creates along your forehead balances more angular features.”
