I am SOOOOO super excited about today’s ecard featuring the amazing genius of Obsessive Consumption’s Kate Bingaman-Burt. I’ve been a longtime fan of this supertalent. I remember her emailing us waaay back when we still ran FF out of our apartment and I’ve admired her work ever since. Kicking myself we haven’t done anything together sooner but better late than never! For those of you who aren’t familiar with her work she has basically documented her daily purchases since the early part of this decade. Visit her site for more!
For us, we played this fun game where we gave her a $200 GC and she drew up everything she purchased. I really LOVE the results!! So super cute. Hope you do also. Don’t forget, lots of AMAZING new fall items and - hullo! - it’s a FREE SHIPPING party over here. Am also excited to try out this brand-new blog ad offer… Basically, we’re offering ten ads here on BFF for a special rate of only $75 for a month instead of $100. Click here for more information!

Wait, are you guys as weirded out as I am that the October issues are already rolling out? Ugh! What the heck? Where is time going? Anyhoot, Gwen Stefani, looks outstanding as usual on the cover of Glamour. She is so breathtaking. She’s sexy, fun, cool and stylish, no matter WHAT she’s wearing! Here’s some of the interview from Glamour:
On the Gwen Stefani universe of fashion: “The whole Tragic Kingdom thing started with Disneyland, which I grew up near. I loved everything from Julie Andrews in The Sound of Music to Bob Marley to ska bands. A little bit English, a little bit rock.”
On seeing husband Gavin Rossdale as a father: “I always thought he’d be a good dad. (laughs) And he has basically lived up to that and beyond, beyond. He’s very, very passionate, and he’s very intense. He’s made to be a dad. I’m very lucky.”
On why we never read crazy stories about her in the tabloids: “Maybe my crazy time is coming up. Let’s see what happens. Maybe I’m just a late bloomer. But I think it’s also just my nature. I was thinking today when I was driving, How am I going to make sure that [my son] Kingston never does anything bad and doesn’t get arrested? I was thinking, How did I stay out of trouble? And I know it’s just ‘cause my parents are so strict. I mean, I’m still scared of them. (laughs)”

I for one LOVE random facts, like “Whatever happened to the kids that were in the Mighty Ducks?” or “Where did the Harmonica originally come from?” I stumbled upon this ADORBZ site called Learn Something Everyday where people submit a fun fact and then they sketch the cutest illustration to go along with it. I never knew Ringo Star from the Beatles was so passionate about his apples! Check it out: you’ll be blown away by the things you learn!

Our favorite OC girl, Mischa Barton, finally opens up to New York Magazine about being hospitalized in July. When asked why she ended up in the psychiatric hospital Mischa said:
“I was down in the dumps about everything there for a while,” she said. “Sometimes you have to hit rock bottom about things and have to get the most stressed-out just to feel better again. I got completely stressed-out and couldn’t handle everything, and now I feel really in control.”
We’re so happy to hear you’re doing well Mischa! You were kind of looking crazy there in your Wool Felt Bowler for a bit.

The fall accessories are filing in, and with it comes the anticipation of school, orange leaves, and dare I say it …. holidays?? It’s too soon I know, but the knits are here and I am ready to wear. Also, I love the flower gemstone bib necklace. It’s trendy and glamorous, the perfect addition to a simple dress. And as for the russian doll squishy key chain, I hope I don’t squish it too much, it seems to be holding up fine under the pressure:) Lastly, you have to check out the handmade PB+J soap, it really smells like a PB+J! Don’t wait for me, CLICK THE PIX TO PURCH THE MERCH!

One of our fave customers (and Keith’s supercrush!) Sheryl joins the blogginz…
Hi, I’m Sheryl and I’m super excited to be a guest blogger for Fred Flare! I hail from the Bronx, NY and currently live in fantastic Greenpoint, Brooklyn. I’m opinionated, high-maintenance, organized and glamorous. I love the classic styles of the 1940’s and 50’s and like to project that aesthetic in my look. I believe the world would be a better place if everyone just infused a little beauty and style in their every day life.
I’ve always been very particular about my appearance, but spending a good part of my adult life very overweight, I was never happy with how I looked. And it didn’t matter that people told me I was beautiful, I felt awful.
I battled food and weight issues my whole life, carrying as much as 208 pounds on my 5’2” frame. As I approached my 35th birthday, severely overweight again, I realized I had wasted far too much of my life being uncomfortable and unhappy. I decided that enough was enough and I was taking my life back!
Shortly after that birthday, I rejoined Weight Watchers (probably my 15th time) and my local YMCA (first time). I had lost weight before - and like most people, gained it back; but this time was different – this was the first time I did it with exercise. Over time, the changes I would incorporate regarding what I ate and what I did at the gym would not only result in me shedding 50 pounds, but they resulted in something much greater - a new found respect for myself and what my body was capable of.
When I began going to the gym, I remember how much I hated it. I was slow to embrace any activity and couldn’t do much at first. But all that matters is that I started, and continued to go. It was not long before I saw physical changes in my body; but even before that happened, I felt noticeably better - I loved how proud and full of energy I felt after working out and I found out that I actually enjoyed challenging myself with different machines and activities.
But something else happened as a result of regular exercise that I never expected: I realized my mental health had been positively affected too! The bad moods and sadness that I lived with most of my life were a thing of the past. I also had a brand new love of and appreciation for my life - something I never felt before. For the first time, I was thankful to be alive and looked forward to every day. If all of that isn’t great enough, I also made some of the best friends ever. Exercise has literally changed my life!
So now, 3 years later, I not only look great, but I feel great, and it shows. I exude a happiness and confidence that I never had before and didn’t even think was possible. Along the way, I’ve become an inspiration for people I know in real life and strangers online whom I’ve never met, which is so rewarding.
I’m still down over 50 pounds from my highest weight and although I’m not at goal weight yet, I know I will get there someday. Instead of obsessing about the number on the scale, I focus on my behaviors and I keep working to make the right choices - taking it one decision at a time.
When people ask me how I did it, I think they are sometimes hoping for a shortcut, magical pill or simple answer. I am more than happy to give them the secret to success – even if it’s not what they want to hear. It’s quite simply to eat less, eat better, and move more. Come to think of it, that’s not such a secret, is it? It may not be a secret, but it is possible, and it’s totally worth it. I’m living proof of that!
But enough about me, I’m just happy to be here and I‘m looking forward to posting!

Uh-oh, my favorite Canadian couple, Avril Lavigne and Sum 41 lead singer, Deryck Whibley are calling it quits after 3 years of marriage. Sources say that the marriage has been rocky since the beginning of this year and Avril has been doing nothing but livin’ it up with her gal pals. So sad, who is supposed to help her with her new album now that they’re done?

Celebrities for some reason LOVE fighting through Twitter! The most recent fight was between lovely Lily Allen and gossip queen Perez Hilton. It all started out when Perez posted a blog titled “Lily Allen + Motherhood = Disaster!!!”. Lily wouldn’t take it and responded via Twitter:
“What an evil b*****d, I hate this man - someone better watch themselves - and yes, that is a threat.”
What an age we live in where people are breaking up, threaten eachother, and gossiping all through a site that only allows you to post 140 characters.

This ecard turned out so fun I think. Again I have to thank Chaunté on this one! There have been so many amazing new arrivals I feel like I haven’t been able to give each the spotlight it really deserves so today I’m doing a quick run-through of some of my fave new accessories plus a couple classics that continue on the top sellers chart. I just pulled this headline out of the air but I kinda think it’s true. The right accessory can definitely add that WOW factor… Sometimes I’ll see some some cute girl like wearing some amazing hat and I’ll follow her for two blocks before I’m like, “Where did you get that??” This just made me think of a funny story… My pal Roxy saw this woman on the street last year wearing an FF logo tee AND an eye patch. She totally chased her down and took her picture. So funny! I’ll have to see if I can dig ‘em up. They’ll totally make your day, promise. More soon!
