No, you don’t understand, Xanadu is like my all-time fave movie! I’ve loved it longer that I’ve loved Breakfast at Tiffany’s or even Desperately Seeking Susan. When I was 8 yrs old I’d make my mom drive me to the movie theater at the mall so I could watch Xanadu. I prolly saw it like 24 times, not kidding. Sometimes I was the only one in theater, so I’d just sing along! Then, I’d run home and play out all the scenes from the movie with all the little kidz in the neighborhood! So, when I heard that Xanadu was coming to Broadway, I kinda lost my breath for a minute! I couldn’t wait to see my fave cult classic starring Olivia Newton-John, live on stage!

We had tix for last night’s show! I had a really tuff day at work, for various reasons, but once the lights went down and the roller skates rolled, all my worries disco danced right away! I mean, I cried like twice. It was like all my 8 year old fantasies of being a singer and dancer came true for me last night there in my seat! It was just wonderful… Thanks so much to Keith and Cammy for the tix!

It seriously was the funniest thing I’d ever seen. They pretty much kept the orig story about at a Greek muse (Olivia in the orig and Kerry Butler here) who’s sent to Earth to inspire this young artist to fulfill his dreams! They also kept all the orig songs… Haloy, “Magic” and “Xanadu”… Ever heard of ‘em??? But they infused all this totes new and HI-larious comedy AND Clash of the Titan meets a gay disco fest! It was just the best time I’ve ever had and I think the entire audience was into it! Cheyenne Jackson, who plays the young artist was a stone cold solid hunk! Yumminz! His tank top with cut-offs was a summer dream come true! Kerry Butler was sooo funny with her faked Olivia Aussie accent! And the two evil muse sisters were just like a drag queen version of Abbott and Costello - FUNNY! So, if you’re in NYC this Summer and love roller skating, pegasus, disco balls and flag dancing… GO see Xanadu on B’way! You also gotta Netflix the orig. You won’t be sorry! And for a good laugh, just picture me IN 1980, reenacting every scene, on rollerskates with a pack of 1st graders! HAHAHAHAHA! Okay, I leave you with the Queen, Olivia and Xanadu! Dreams do come true!
