As a high school senior I am thankful for everyone who has helped and supported me through the college process so far, it has truly been a grueling process and I never could have accomplished what I have thus far without the love and support. I am thankful for Thanksgiving… which is a holiday created by Abraham Lincoln. So I guess I’m thankful to Honest Abe, who was thankful for the pilgrims, who were thankful for the native americans, who were thankful to God. In all honest though, I am thankful for my friends (for never failing to make me laugh with their witty ways), my family (for being complete insane while trying to maintain sanity), my teachers, my health, my (so comfortable, it’s unreal) bed, my level-head, lighthearted things, etc. etc. etc.

I am thankful for the different kinds of people that I meet on the job. I test people for HIV and work in a LBGT resource center. On any given day, I get to hang out with and talk to homeless people, college kids, heroin addicts, gay guys, lesbian gals, and anyone and everyone inbetween. It’s sooo REFRESHING to get a glimpse of the world through so many different sets of eyeballs.

I’m thankful for all my awesome neighbors who are like a second and third and fourth family to me! I know that if something ever happened to my bio-family, I would have a huge group of people there to help me out. I’m grateful for my family and friends, and my pets, and for the fact that after 10 years, I will be graduating in a week from college with my bachelors in Earth Science! SO excited about that. People ALWAYS say family and friends; I figure by now they’re redundant (to me, at least). So I’ll write some things that are a bit more out-of-the-ordinary to say, that make life a moshpit of awesome: Rainstorms, lace doilies, the internet (^_^), the paper in books, dreams, huge soft blankets, autumn air, magnets, fancy dress suits, dark chocolate, Andy Samburg, big windows, swingsets, finger painting, singing in the shower, purell, biking down a hill and feeling the wind through your hair, smelling cakes and cookies baking, running up the stairs using your feet AND hands, swivel chairs, feeling cardstock, roller coasters, candid pictures, orchestras, roasting marshmallows (to perfection), pillow fights, jeans that fit perfectly, birds and their nests, film cameras, ukuleles, the smell of sharpies, ball pits, 90’s nicktoons, pens that write smoothly, clouds and kites, snow days, knock-knock jokes, real compliments, 100 Grand candy bars, laughter, having a fire in the fireplace, getting packages in the mail, Asian food, walking down my road in the spring and smelling flowers, narwhals, silly erasers, band-aids, my old ipod that comes back to me no matter where I leave it (i.e. in the park, a man asks me if “this is my ipod” a few days later), cutting paper with scissors, outdoor markets, carnies, thread, hide-and-seek, pop-up books, getting snacks on plane rides, good Samaritans, sunglasses on a really sunny day, silky ribbons, cold blasts of air in the summer when you’re walking down the street past shop doors, running fast, walking slow, smiles cause of the year’s first snow. I could never write down everything. This was long (sorry), but it’s important to remember all the things you’re quietly thankful for–the little things and events that patch together to make a life worth living. Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy thanksgiving first of all!:) I’m thankful for a lot of things. First off, my insane family that has recently been expanded by my three cousins due to 2 tradegies with both my uncle and aunt. I have to say they’ve changed my whole outlook on life by being more appreciative to have my parents around. My change of outlook led me to find my glorious boyfriend, Jeremy, who is also my best friend. He runs up the down escalators with me without a blink of an eye. I’m also thankful that, as many changes that are occuring around me, I have a handful of concrete people who will stay by my side thick and thin. I’m thankful for beautiful music, which gets me through tough times. I’m thankful for people willing to give their lives to save others. I’m thankful for everyone who is willing to put someone else in front of themselves..it gives me faith that maybe our society isn’t so doomed.

I am thankful to be with my family this Thanksgiving. I am thankful that I still have a roof over my head and that my children are healthy and relatively happy. When my husband lost his job last year at this time, I didn’t know where I would be a year from then. But we keep on keepin on and we have to believe that there is hope… Please keep everyone who has lost their job and their spouses in your prayers. I am so thankful for all of the love my family gives me. Really, sometimes I have so much of it I drown in it! I am also thankful for bobby pins, big sweaters, journals, red lipstick, my band, big ridiculous necklaces, my mom’s cooking, the smell of a new can of tennis balls, root chips, hole punchers, road bikes, not having a facebook, the funny things my nieces and nephew say, the sound of popcorn, old man running, inside jokes, Calder, travel mugs, no bake cookies, carbon paper, mopeds, friends and family for sure, tights, cooking, hard cider, sweet potato fries, sewing machine, records, my sister’s laugh, kids accents, days off of work and school, my car, popping the balloon inside of the paper mache world I made, Bill Murray, the movie TOKYO!, my blanket, string quartets, going out to breakfast, real simple magazine, salvation army, the iron, the word “Zoobies”, the game, “Guess how much I paid for this?” with my mother, mint chocolate chip ice cream, my bird necklace, the band Broadcast, road trips, Halloween parties in warehouse spaces and new years parties with funk music, all of the support and love I get, dresses, project runway, the found footage festival, Rushmore…and so many many many more things. I could really go on all day.

This thanksgiving will be the first after the head of our family, Granny Lois, and her eldest daughter passed away. They died within a week of each other. The thing Im most thankful for this thanksgiving is that my family will still be coming to together to celebrate. That were still in one piece, still a family. I’m most thankful for that. For eating around several oddly sized tables with my cousins. For fighting with my brothers about who gets to go first in the food line. For throwing the football and watching the games. For food, festivities, and my family.

This thanksgiving, I am very thankful for all the great friends and families that care about me, and are so nice and caring to me. I have never been thankful for anything like I am this year… on Monday my mom, newly diagnosed with breast cancer, went into surgery. I am happy to report that she is recovering well. There are so many things that we take for granted! Our our health and the health of our loved ones (used to) top the list for me. Having my mom become ill made so many of my “problems” seem incredibly trivial. I am so thankful to have my mom with me this year. I couldn’t ask for anything more.

Hey! I’m from Venezuela, so we don’t celebrate Thanksgiving per se, but once in a while we do remember the things we are thankful for. For example, over a year ago, my 26 year old cousin fell off a 6th floor, and doctors didn’t know if she would even live. Today, she is still recovering, but talking, walking, and given her super positive attitude, she has learned how inspirational her story and good vibes are, so she became a motivational speaker. So today, I’m thankful for life, for family, for love, and for inspiration. Thanks guys, I love your blog, and you wonderful store!

I’m thankful for the people I love, and the people that love me. I’m thankful I have people to love. I’m thankful for Fredflare so I can realize I’m thankful for these things, we don’t do the whole “what are you thankful” thing in my family.. We don’t really think of it that way, just as a time to eat a bunch. I’m thankful for all the food. I’m thankful I was born with a tongue so I can taste the food.. I’m also thankful I’m not allergic to anything so I won’t swell up or get itchy. I’m thankful there’s exercise videos I can watch (and follow) to lose all the weight I gain. I’m thankful for music because it helps me express my feelings, get out stress.. that stuff. I’m thankful for individuality. I’d hate if everyone was the same..looked the same, dressed the same, acted the same, thought the same thoughts. I’m thankful this wasn’t an assignment at school.. I wouldn’t get away with my bad grammar if it was.

The Fred Flare blog is such a happy place to be! Reading everyone’s sweet and funny posts is a fabulous way to pass the time whilst the turkey is cooking up all yummy in the oven. I’m grateful for and humbled by my job. This fall I became a professor at a community college. I’ve always wanted to teach English for a living, and I’m now working with students ages 16-80, and I love love love my job. This year is really special to me because I had the most wonderful surprise, and an exceptionnally great begining of fall with my best friend Keith,in NYC, because of him. It was AMAZING and WONDERFUL. So my special, dearest, lovest THANKS are for him. I’m THANKFUL for life to have made me meet him, and for our friendship to still be friends, in spite of distance, for so many years.I’m thankful for the two of us for staying close in spite of the Atlantic Ocean, planes, miles, kilometers, busy schedules, work….This is the most beautiful thing in life!

I am thankful for my whole family who have lifted me up and let me go like a butterfly sticky and fresh from her cocoon. I’m thankful for the sacrifice my parents make for me to go to a good college, and for giving me the chance to attend school in Paris this past semester. C’etait manifique! We should be thankful for the bright, beautiful moments in our lives, but also the dark and dreary ones. It’s the hard times that bring us together, and while they are less-than-desirable, they make us stronger. I am grateful everyday, for my family, my friends, my pets, my island, the boy I love and life in general. Life can throw surprises at you and you never know when you’re going to need these people and things the most. My bf moved to the other side of the world, I had to give up my apartment, I moved away from my family, I work long, long hours and finish everyday exhausted, missing my family and the love of my life. My life is suddenly all about sacrifices and that can get old fast. Still, everyday, I give thanks because in spite of everything I realize how incredibly lucky I am and because I have faith that things will work out alright. I try to find beauty in everything and most of the time I succeed. For that I am grateful as well. :)

I am thankful for the wonderful turducken that I just stuffed down until i was as plump as the sad turkey, duck, and chicken, who were eaten by my family. I am thankful for online shopping!! I visit Fredflare everyday and have a wishlist a mile long! I am thankful for the family who will shorten the list and present me with fredflare gifts! My family and dog are great because they are allways there for me!

This fall I took an internship with Walt Disney World and have spent the past three months working at attractions in Dinoland U.S.A in Disney’s Animal Kingdom. When I first started, I was really worried about missing my family, especially for the holidays. Today was my first Thanksgiving spent without them around. Luckily for me, I’ve met some of the most amazing and fun people in my stay here among the Dinoland crowd. We’re all half-crazy and a little strange, but I’ve never once felt out of place since showing up in August. And you know, you just can’t go three months with everyone wearing identical neon green dino shorts and the same catchy dinoflare buttons advertising “prehysterically low prices” without becoming family. For that, I’m extremely grateful. So, thank you Dino-rama for being the most amazing (and perhaps a little bizarre) family that I could ever wish for in this home away from home! I am thankful for my best friend and former fiancee (never ex-) Tony, my new best friend Saskia, and my super old best friend Melinda. I’m thankful for all the people who care about me even though I probably don’t deserve it, and I fight them like no other when they try to help me. I’m thankful for music, which is one of the few things that keeps me running. I’m thankful for coffee, another thing that keeps me running. I’m thankful for my family, who, despite our obvious differences, still loves me and tries to help me as much as possible. I’m thankful for the forgiving staff of my library, who despite my flagrant tardiness in returning books, always lets me back in. And I’m thankful, of course, for Fred Flare, to whom I’ve given hours of my browsing time when I’m supposed to be doing my work. Thanks, guys. This Thanksgiving holiday has truly been a blessing. Since going to college, I haven’t seen most of my family in 3 months. Today’s dinner was wonderful reconnecting with relatives that I haven’t seen in quite some time. I am thankful for all of my family. My daddy passed away last year and this is our second Thabksgiving without him. I am thankful that it doesn’t hurt as much this year, and that my mama is getting better with daddy being gone. We will all miss him forever but I know he would want us to enjoy the holidays.
