We discovered Cody the same way many of her fans do, by stopping some cute girl wearing her cherry earrings and asking where to get ‘em. We always smile each time someone phones us with a similar story, referred to fredflare.com by some cute chica on the street, at a party or even at school. One time a customer called us after having seen the cherries on her favorite teacher! This month we’re pleased to present some brand-new styles that Cody has made exclusively for us. They’re sure to get people talking...

We always laugh when you bring those cherry earrings over in lil' Tupperware containers! You've mentioned in the past that you had a major cookie-baking phase. Yum! Tell us more!!!!
I have the biggest sweet tooth imaginable so give me any excuse to bake cookies or a cake or a pie and I’ll jump at it! I’m actually kinda obsessed with cooking in general. My mother is an amazing cook and I grew up as her assistant in the kitchen. Nowadays my friend Laura and I cook huge dinners for our friends at least once a week. Usually they have little themes like “Steak Dinner Night” or “Pork Chop Tuesdays”.

And how did you start making such cute earrings? When did cookie-baking evolve into earring-making?
A girl can gain a lot of weight baking as much as I did so, about a year ago, I tried to cut back. I’ve always been kinda crafty and one day I started playing with some plastic pieces I had found. I made some earrings just for myself and then, when I’d go out, girls were always asking to buy them so I began selling ‘em.

To backtrack, we know you're from California and we're dying to hear what it was like to grow up in Hollywood!
It’s not a lie. It really
is hot, sunny and beautiful every day of the year there. I swear I’ve become ten shades paler since I moved to NYC! Being a kid in L.A. was fine but the second I hit my teens I wanted out!

What brought you to NYC then?
Los Angeles had just started to wear on me and I actually tried to run away when I was 17. I had a one-way plane ticket to visit NYC for New Years Eve and was secretly planning to just NEVER COME BACK! My mother realized what I was up to and helped me see that I had no money, was too young to get a job and had no place to stay. So I never got on that plane. Instead, I started saving money and a year later I officially moved to NYC with my best friend. I spent a few years waiting tables and then started Film School. Now that the earrings have begun to take off I’ve decided to take some time away from school to concentrate on that.

What do you like to do in your spare time?
When I’m not working I really just like to hang out with my friends. I’m actually a big dork.

What advice would you give our readers who want to start designing and selling jewelry?
Just make things that you like and want to wear. Also, watch your fingers if you’re using tools. It’s
so not fun to smash your finger with a hammer or pinch yourself with pliers!

Hey Mr. DJ... What's spinning in your CD player these days?
I have a 5-disc changer so here goes: Outkast’s
The Love Below and Speakerboxxx, Doob Doob O’Rama (film songs from Bollywood), The Best of The Crystals and Mobb Deep’s The Infamous.

Okay hon, it's speed round time... Since you’re our February interview, tell us some of your LOVES...
FAVE COLOR: Turquoise. Actually, I love all shades of blue.
FAVE CANDY: Anything chocolate, especially dark chocolate.
FAVE MUSIC: Salsa, Hip-Hop, 60’s girl group stuff, Bollywood music...
FAVE FOODS: Salad, steak, Indian food, Hostess cupcakes
FAVE MOVIES: Meanstreets, Gilda, Hairspray, Heathers, 400 Blows, Once We Were Warriors... I could go on and on for pages...

What would be your dream job?
To be the girl on the flying trapeze.
